If the Shoe Fits, Wear it!

Good Evening Everyone,

We recently went to Washington, DC for David Ziser’s Digital Wakeup Call Conference. It was an absolute blast. While there we were talking with David about our style and look. You know what makes you stand out.

We took this picture at a recent wedding in New Kent, VA and I feel it represents our style very well. Many of our pictures are moody and full of emotion and thats what we go for. Capturing more than just pictures…

Until Next Time,

P.S. Marshie took this shot, she’ll be happy I let everyone know.

High Fashion in the Bottom

October 9th, 2009 Brandon 1 comment

Hello Everyone,

It has been a few days since I have been able to blog, but I’m back. A few days ago we were finally able to get out and take some photos in downtown Richmond. There are so many interesting places to shoot in the city of Richmond and for this shoot we choose the Main Street train station. This photo taken with our wonderful model Brooke and turned out absolutely gorgeous. She was so easy to work with and for this shot we combined the ambient light on the balcony with off-camera flash to achieve this focused and high contrast look. 1/200th at F8.

Until next time,

Happy to Be A Flower Girl!

September 30th, 2009 Brandon No comments

Good Evening Everyone,

Another one of those great moments as a wedding photographer. This little flower girl looked over and gave me the cutest smile I think I have ever seen. I am normally not big on people looking directly into the camera but this shot just works. This photo was taken on the University of Richmond Campus in Richmond Virginia.

If you haven’t already check it out check out our article on Richmond Wedding Photography: What We’re About .

Look forward to hearing from you,

What we’re about!

September 20th, 2009 Brandon 1 comment

This is your special day. These are your memories. We are here to capture them. Here are a few things we believe in:

  1. Each couple deserves to be able to afford quality photography at their wedding. We offer affordable packages without sacrificing the quality of your images.
  2. Two photographers! We will never come to a wedding without two photographers. The bottom line is that you will not get all of your moments with only one photographer. If the bride wants a picture of her husband’s expression when she’s walking down the aisle, is the photographer going to be able to capture him and the bride at the same time? If the photographer is with the bride while she’s getting ready, who is documenting what’s happening while the groom is getting ready? (Yes grooms, we thought of you too). We want to capture and share every moment!
  3. A photographer’s work should not stop at the camera. We believe that a photographer must know (and use) editing and post-production software. Brandon and Marshie are both professionals with Photoshop and Lightroom. Brandon is also a professional graphic designer and because of this we don’t have to outsource our album design.  We can offer beautiful albums at lower prices and pass that savings on to you.
  4. A photographer should never stop learning. Each and every photographer has something further to learn. We strongly believe in continuing our education through classes, conventions and contests. We continue to excel and this was recently shown when we won the Richmond leg of the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk.
  5. Each couple should feel comfortable with their decision. We are committed to making sure our clients our happy with the outcome and execution of our services. We encourage open communication and set out to develop a relationship with each one of our clients that will help them be at ease with this important decision. We strive to exceed expectations with each couple. We simply love seeing our clients happy!

We hope your wedding is full of beautiful memories and we hope that we can share them with you.

Traditional View

September 11th, 2009 Brandon No comments

Good Evening Everyone,

Today’s image comes from the University of Richmond Cathedral. This probably one of the most beautiful venues I’ve ever visited in Richmond or anywhere else. The cathedral ceilings seem to go on forever and it makes for an excellent place for your special day. This photo was actually somewhat difficult to put together as the organist was practicing and it was very tough to communicate with the bride over the organ. After a few shots, we were able to get it and man did it turn out great! I love the leading lines in this photo and our bride looks amazing. 1/30th F3.5 ISO 400.

Have a great day,

A Walk in NYC

Good Morning Everyone,

Today’s post comes from one of our New York photo shoots. We traveled to New York City to do this engagement shoot and had an absolute blast. Riverside park is a site to be seen in the fall and there is so much scenery to take pictures of. One day soon I will post other photos from the shoot so you can see the beauty of New York in the fall. This shot was taken near the end of our shoot as the rain began to come down hard. A few quick shots and we got it. I love the dark tones and the way the ring is able to pop through. This photo now lives on my business cards and other promotional materials.  1/50th @ F 4.5 Iso 800

Have a great day and I look forward to hearing from you,

Brandon Boswell

Old Timey Goodness

Good Evening Everyone,

It is hard to believe we are on Day 3 of this blog already. Some interesting news for today, we just purchased an additional domain name for our website: www.richmondweddingphoto.com

Today’s photo was taken in New Kent, Virginia during a bridal portrait session prior to the couple’s wedding date. Marshie & I always recommend bridal shoots as they give everyone a stress free opportunity to get those formal shots to hang on the wall. We have found that it is great to schedule a bridal shoot for the day you do your makeup testing, because you get to dress and look exactly as you will on your wedding day.

This shot was taken on our 40D with a Tokina 11-16 lens, the wide angle lens creates that epic look and feel we all love in our images. F5.6, 1/125th

Hope you have a great day,
Brandon Boswell

Standing Out in The Crowd

September 1st, 2009 Brandon No comments

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Today is day two of this wonderful blog about our Richmond Virginia Based Wedding Firm. Today’s image is a photo taken from easily the most fun wedding reception I have ever been to. Everything about this wedding reception just seemed to come together perfectly. The music, the lights, the people, the mood.

This photo was so much fun the capture. The way the dj’s lights reflect on her dress completely captures the mood and feeling of the night. F2.8, 1/250th, ISO 400.

Thank you,
Brandon Boswell

Beach House Sunrise

September 1st, 2009 Brandon 2 comments

Good Morning Everyone,

Just testing out the new blog. Please let me know what you think. The idea is I will post a new photo everyday and tell you a little bit of backstory about the photo, How and where it was shot and with what settings.

Today’s image is picture I took from a dock in Mathews, Virginia. It was a gorgeous sunset and the rays of the sun seemed to just creep over the trees. The landscape really made the shot for me, no post-production necessary.  F8, 1/60 Sec.
